centreville and the beltway, giving you the green light as well as across the beltway through tysons and bethesda across the american legion bridge. south of town, the wilson bridge looks good. 95 callista northbound at the prince william parkway, the right lane blocked. still giving you the green light out of dale city to the beltway. now to news. >> metro is open for a nice morning commute following a series of problems over the weekend. >> metro was forced to shut down its entire rail system. john gonzalez is outside the mount vernon square station to explain how metro is preparing for any possible problems today. >> more personnel this morning. whenever there has been a problem with trains being halted, in the past, it's usually a track problem. this time it was a computer glitch inside the control center. that means controllers were not able to see the moving trains. the shutdown occurred twice this

weekend. once on saturday afternoon and again early sunday morning. extra staff is on hand this morning just in case the transit agency computers crashed against. >> they need to do something. >> twice in one week. >> i have to get to work. >> computer problems caused all the trains to stop for about a half-hour each time. no evidence of computer hacking. software issues instead. some commuters are worried about it happening again during the morning or afternoon rush hour this morning. >> i have to explain to my boss why i am late for work. i don't want to lose my job because i cannot get on the train. >> metro officials said on sunday the safety systems remained operating and crews were working to minimize the chance of additional problems while they search for the cause. >> i will have to leave two hours early to make sure i make it to work on time. >> the trains eventually were

dispatched by radio. a metro spokesperson says all the trains are able to get to their necks stop. reporting live in northwest washington, john gonzalez, abc 7 news. >> thanks for that. looking at the day ahead, several lawmakers will join the u.s. department of transportation and other agencies, announcing the first ever federal safety standard for rail transit systems nationwide. the safety standards were included in bipartisan legislation signed into law by president obama earlier this month. the national transportation safety board has already identified several areas that could improve safety and oversight, including evacuation and rescue features on railcars. >> prince george's county police need your help finding the missing man. 75-year-old oscar harry washington was last seen yesterday morning in the backyard of his mother's home in bowie. he suffers from high blood pressure and memory loss.

call police if you seen him. >> turning to the campaign trail, president obama says that he refuses to apologize for its latest attacks on mitt romney. the center around romney's time at bain capital. abc 7 went one-on-one with president obama. brianne carter is in the newsroom. >> that interview, the president talks about some of his personal failings, but he also had a tough words on his opponent. the president will be in ohio for his first town hall meeting today and a likely another round of attacks on his rival mitt romney. as we countdown to election day, the battle between the two candidates is heating up. this time over the bain capital controversy. president obama's campaign team alleges the presumptive gop nominee oversaw the company even after he claimed to have left during outsourcing and layoffs. the president had this to say.

>> my understanding is that mr. romney attested to the sec multiple times than he was the chairman ceo, and president of bain capital. most americans would figure if you are the chairman, ceo and president of a company, if that you are responsible for what the company does. mr. romney will have to answer those questions. >> promises the outsourcing happened after he left in 1999. he quickly fired back at the president. prexy ought to say he is sorry for the kinds of attacks coming from his team. >> the president said that will not happen anytime soon. in the interview, what you might not know about the president, he says that he makes good chili and says he is a pretty good pull player -- pool player.

>> thanks for that report. the latest developments in talks to expand gambling in maryland. governor o'malley and prince george's county executive baker are expected to meet today to discuss efforts to allow a new casino at national harbor. that is where we find jummy olabanji this morning with more details. good morning. >> good morning. according to the washington post also joining the governor and the county executive in prince george's county will be ike leggett of montgomery county, and the mayor of baltimore. the meeting scheduled to happen in annapolis later this morning. incupit was a couple weeks ago when the idea of expanding carogambling stalled. the governor has been working hard to get this back on the table and into a special session

that would happen later this summer. the general assembly has until august 20 to decide whether or not they will hold a special session. if that goes through and the vote to allow it on the ballot, that would happen in november. this is something many lawmakers and people across maryland say they would like to see the expansion of gambling. but there are also those who say they have enough. the expansion would allow for more table games including blackjack and russian roulette and gmmgm is trying to move forward with a plan. we will have updates from the meeting when we get them. jummy olabanji, abc 7 news. >> 72 degrees, 5:07. >> secretary of state clinton

the metro station next to the convention center has just opened. so far, so good. this was a computer glitch on the weekend at the main metro control center, which means controllers were not able to see the moving trains. the shutdowns occurred twice this weekend, once on saturday afternoon and again sunday morning. extra staff is on hand this morning just in case the agency computers crashed again. computer problem caused all trains to stop for about a half- hour each time. no evidence of packing -- computer hacking. it was an apparent software issue. safety systems remained operating and crews were working to minimize the chance of any additional problems as they are trying to figure out why this computer glitch happened. at one point all the trains operating, dispatched by radios. all of the trains were able to get to their next stop according

to a metro spokesperson. metro hopes this does not happen again today. john gonzalez reporting. >> many commuters hoping the same. a former high-school football coach accused of selling steroids is expected in court today in fairfax county. jeffery reagan was arrested last month as he met with his alleged suppliers at a central shopping center. he was a coach and south county and was supposed to start at west springfield high school this fall. there's no evidence that he sold steroids to students. howard county police are searching for a man shot and critically injured two people. yesterday evening tuan pham went to a nail salon in beltsville where his ex-girlfriend worked. he beat and then shot a man who was waiting to pick up and then he shot his ex-girlfriend before taking off in a gold honda accord. police found the vehicle in colombia. this morning he is still on the los. investigators are looking for three men wanted in connection

with a deadly attempted robbery in capitol heights. the suspects stopped a car and gunpoint early sunday morning at farmingdale avenue. they ordered the people inside the car to get out and to lie on the ground. then the driver got startled and ran over and killed a man who was lying on the ground. >> investigators are looking for the driver of a car involved in a deadly pedestrian accident that happens in langley park. a tow truck hit a woman saturday night as she walked on to university boulevard near ridge road. another vehicle then hit the woman and kept going. the woman died at the hospital. her name is not been released. >> on the campaign trail, the race for the white house continues to heat up. president obama says he will not apologize for his recent attacks on mitt romney's involvement with the private equity firm bain capital. if that was one of many subjects that he discussed during a one- on-one interview with abc 7
